使徒行伝第１章　公認本分

１章
１　テオピロ様、わたしは[1]最初の[2]報告書で、イエスが行い、また教え始められてから、
２　彼が天に上げられた日までに、お選びになった使徒たちに、聖霊によってお与えになった命令のことを、すべてしるしました。
３　彼は、彼らに対して多くの確実な証拠によって、ご自分が生きておられることを示し、四十日にわたってたびたび彼らに現れて、神の国について語られました。
４　また、彼らと集まっているとき（食事を共にしているとき）、彼らにお命じになりました、「エルサレムから離れないで、かねてわたしから聞いていた父の約束を、
５　すなわち、ヨハネは水でバプテスマを授けたが、おまえたちは間もなく聖霊によって、バプテスマを授けらるという約束を待っていなさい」。
６　それで、弟子たちが一緒に集まったとき、イエスに問うて言いました、「主よ、あなたがイスラエルのために国を復興なさるのは、この時なのですか」。
７　すると、彼らに言われました、「時期や場合は、おまえたちの知る限りではない。それは父がご自分の権威によって定めておられるのである。
８　しかし、聖霊がおまえたちの所に[3]来られる時、おまえたちは力を受けて、エルサレム、ユダヤ全土、そして、サマリヤ、さらに地のはてまで、わたしの証人となるのだ」。
９　こう仰せになると、彼は、彼らの見ている前で天に上げられ、雲に迎えられて、その姿が見えなくなりました。
１０　イエスの上って行かれるとき、彼らが天を見つめていると、見よ、白い衣を着たふたりの人が、彼らのそばに立っていました。
１１　そして、彼らはこう言いました、「ガリラヤの人たちよ、なぜ天を仰いで立っているのですか。あなたがたを離れて天に上げられたこのイエスは、天に上って行かれるのをあなたがたが見たのと同じ有様で、またおいでになります」。
１２　それから彼らは、オリブという山からエルサレムに帰りました。この山はエルサレムに近く、安息日に許されている距離のところにあります。
１３　それから、彼らは入ってきて、その泊まっていた屋上の間にあがりました。その人たちは、ペテロ、ヤコブ、ヨハネ、アンデレ、ピリポとトマス、バルトロマイとマタイ、アルパヨの子ヤコブと熱心等のシモン、そして、ヤコブの兄弟ユダ（ペテロ、ヨハネ、ヤコブ、アンデレ、ピリポとトマス、バルトロマイとマタイ、アルパヨの子ヤコブと熱心党のシモンとヤコブの子ユダと）でした。
１４　これらの人々はみな、心を一つにし、婦人たち、特にイエスの母マリヤ、およびイエスの兄弟たちと共に、ひたすら祈と嘆願をしていました。
１５　そのころ、弟子たちが一団となって集まってましたが、その百二十名ばかりの真ん中に立って、ペテロが言いました、
１６　「兄弟たちよ、イエスを捕えた者たちの手びきになったユダについては、聖霊がダビデの口をとおしてあらかじめ語られたその言葉は、成就しなければなりませんでした。
１７　彼はわたしたちと共に数えられ、この務を授かっていた者でした。（
１８　しかし、彼は不義の報酬である地所を手に入れたが、そこへまっさかさまに落ちて、まん中から裂け、はらわたがみな流れ出てしまいました。
１９　そこで、この地所が彼らの国語でアケルダマと呼ばれるようになり、この事はエルサレムの全住民に知れわたりました。（すなわち「血の地所」との意です。）
２０　このことは、詩篇に、『その屋敷は荒れ果てさせよ、そこにはだれも住む者がいなくなれ』と書いてあり、また『その奉仕の職は、ほかの者に取らせよ』とあるとおりです。
２１　そういうわけで、主イエスがわたしたちの間においでになり、また、出て行かれるまでのすべての期間中、
２２　ヨハネのバプテスマの時から始まって、わたしたちを離れて天に上げられた日に至るまで、わたしたちと行動を共にした人たちのうちのだれかひとりが、わたしたちと共に主の復活の証人にならねばなりません」。
２３　そこで彼らは、(バルサバと呼ばれ、またの名をユストという）ヨセフと、マッテヤとのふたりを立て、
２４　そして祈って言いました、「主よ、すべての人の心をご存じである方よ。この奉仕と使徒の職とを受け継ぐために、このふたりのうちのどちらを選ばれるのかをお示しください。
２５　ユダはこの使徒の職務から落ちて、自分の行くべきところへ行ったからです」。
２６　それから、ふたりのためにくじを引いたところ、マッテヤに当ったので、この人が十一人の使徒たちに加えられました。

Acts 1
Act 1:1  Truly, O Theophilus, I made the first report as to all things that Jesus began both to do and teach
Act 1:2  until the day He was taken up, having given directions to the apostles whom He chose, through the Holy Spirit;
Act 1:3  to whom He also presented Himself living after His suffering by many infallible proofs, being seen by them through forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God.
Act 1:4  And having met with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to await the promise of the Father which you heard from Me.
Act 1:5  For John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized in the Holy Spirit not many days from now.
Act 1:6  Then, indeed, these coming together, they asked Him, saying, Lord, do You at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?
Act 1:7  And He said to them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father has put in His own authority.
Act 1:8  But you shall receive power, the Holy Spirit coming upon you. And you shall be witnesses to Me both in Jerusalem and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and to the end of the earth.
Act 1:9  And saying these things, as they watched, He was taken up. And a cloud received Him out of their sight.
Act 1:10  And while they were looking intently into the heaven, He having gone, even behold, two men in white clothing stood beside them,
Act 1:11  who also said, Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into the heaven? This same Jesus who is taken up from you into Heaven, will come in the way you have seen Him going into Heaven.
Act 1:12  Then they returned to Jerusalem from the mount Of Olive Grove, which is a sabbath day's journey from Jerusalem.
Act 1:13  And when they had come in, they went up into an upper room, where Peter and James, and John and Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew, James the son of Alpheus and Simon Zelotes, and Judas the brother of James;
Act 1:14  these all were continuing with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with His brothers.
Act 1:15  And in those days Peter stood up in the midst of the disciples and said, (the number of names together was about a hundred and twenty,)
Act 1:16  Men, brothers, this Scripture must have been fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit by the mouth of David spoke before concerning Judas, who became guide to those who seized Jesus.
Act 1:17  For he was numbered with us and had obtained part of this ministry.
Act 1:18  Indeed, then, this one purchased a field with the reward of unrighteousness. And falling headlong, he burst apart in the middle, and all his bowels gushed out.
Act 1:19  And it was known to all the dwellers at Jerusalem, so much so that that field is called in their own dialect, Akeldama, that is to say, Field of Blood.
Act 1:20  For it is written in the Book of Psalms, "Let his estate become forsaken, and he not be living in it." And, "Let another take his overseership."
Act 1:21  Therefore, it is right that one of these men who have companied with us all the time that the Lord Jesus came in and went out among us,
Act 1:22  beginning from the baptism of John to that same day that He was taken up from us, to become a witness with us of His resurrection.
Act 1:23  And they appointed two, Joseph called Barsabas, who was surnamed Justus, and Matthias.
Act 1:24  And they prayed and said, You, Lord, knower of all hearts, show which one You chose from these two,
Act 1:25  to take the share of this ministry and apostleship from which Judas fell, to go to his own place.
Act 1:26  And they gave forth their lots. And the lot fell upon Matthias. And he was numbered with the eleven apostles.

１　さて、午後三時の祈のときになって、ペテロとヨハネとは、ともに神殿に上りました。
２　すると、母の胎内から足のきかない男が、運ばれて来ていました。彼は、宮もうでに来る人々に施しをこうため、毎日、「美しの門」と呼ばれる神殿の門のところに置かれていました。
３　彼は、ペテロとヨハネとが神殿にはいって行こうとしているのを見て、施しをこいました。
４　[1]ペテロはヨハネとともに彼を見つめて言いました、「わたしたちを見なさい」。
５　彼は何かもらえるのだろうと期待して、ふたりに注目していると、
６　ペテロが言いました、「金銀はわたしには無い。しかし、わたしにあるものをあげよう。ナザレ人イエス・キリストの名によって歩きなさい」。
７　こう言って彼の右手を取って起してやると、足と、くるぶしとが、立ちどころに強くなって、
８　踊りあがって立ち、歩き出しました。そして、歩き回ったり踊ったりして神をさんびしながら、彼らと共に神殿にはいって行きました。
９　すべての人は、彼が歩き回り、また神をさんびしているのを見ました。
１０　そして、彼らは、この人が神殿の「美しの門」のそばにすわって、施しをこうていた者であると知り、彼の身に起ったことについて、驚き怪しみました。
１１　また、[2]足がいやされた人がなおもペテロとヨハネとにすがりついていると、[3]人々が皆非常に驚いて、「ソロモンの廊」と呼ばれるポーチ（玄関、車寄せ）にいた彼らのところに駆け集まって来ました。
１２　ペテロはこれを見て、人々にむかって答ました。「イスラエルの人たちよ、あなたがたは、なぜこの事を不思議に思うのですか。また、どうしてわたしたちを見つめているのですか。まるで、わたしたちが自分の力や信心で、あの人を歩かせたかのように？
１３　アブラハムの神、そしてイサク、またヤコブ、わたしたちの先祖たちの神は、[4]御子イエスに栄光を賜わったのですが、あなたがたは、彼を引き渡し、ピラトがゆるすことに決めていたのに、それを彼の面前で拒みました。
１４　あなたがたは、この聖なる正しいかたを拒んで、人殺しの男がゆるされるように要求し、
１５　いのちの君を殺してしまいました。しかし、神はこの方を死人の中から、よみがえらせました。わたしたちは、その事の証人です。

２０　それは、主のみ前から[6]新たなる心がきてあなたがたのためにあらかじめ[7]宣べ伝えられてきたキリストなるイエスを、神がつかわして下さるためです。
２１　このイエスは、神が昔から聖なる預言者たちの口をとおして、語られれておられた[8]万物の回復のときまで、天にとどめておかれねばなりませんでした。
２２　モーセは先祖たちに[9]言いました、『[10]主なるあなたがたの神は、わたしのような預言者を、あなたがたの兄弟の中からお立てになる。その預言者があなたがたに語ることには、ことごとく聞きしたがいなさい。
２３　彼に聞きしたがわない魂は、みな民の中から滅ぼし去られるであろう』。と。
２４　サムエルをはじめ、その後つづいて語った預言者はみな、この時のことをあらかじめ宣べ伝えたのです。
２５　あなたがたは預言者の子であり、神が[11]わたしたちの先祖たちと結ばれた契約の子です。神はアブラハムに対して、『地上の諸民族は、あなたの子孫によって祝福を受けるであろう』と仰せられました。
２６　[12]神は、そのしもべイエスをよみがえらせなさって、彼をまずあなたがたにお遣わしになりました。それは、あなたがたひとりびとりを悪から立ちかえらせて祝福にあずからせるためなのです」。

A Lame Man Healed
3 Now Peter and John went up together to the temple at the hour of prayer, the ninth hour. 
2 And a certain man lame from his mother’s womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms from those who entered the temple; 
3 who, seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple, asked for alms. 
4 And fixing his eyes on him, with John, Peter said, “Look at us.” 
5 So he gave them his attention, expecting to receive something from them. 
6 Then Peter said, “Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.” 
7 And he took him by the right hand and lifted him up, and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength. 
8 So he, leaping up, stood and walked and entered the temple with them—walking, leaping, and praising God. 
9 And all the people saw him walking and praising God. 
10 Then they knew that it was he who sat begging alms at the Beautiful Gate of the temple; and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him.

11 Now as the lame man who was healed held on to Peter and John, all the people ran together to them in the porch which is called Solomon’s, greatly amazed. 
12 So when Peter saw it, he responded to the people: “Men of Israel, why do you marvel at this? Or why look so intently at us, as though by our own power or godliness we had made this man walk? 
13 The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our fathers, glorified His Servant Jesus, whom you delivered up and denied in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let Him go. 
14 But you denied the Holy One and the Just, and asked for a murderer to be granted to you, 
15 and killed the Prince of life, whom God raised from the dead, of which we are witnesses. 
16 And His name, through faith in His name, has made this man strong, whom you see and know. Yes, the faith which comes through Him has given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.
17 “Yet now, brethren, I know that you did it in ignorance, as did also your rulers. 
18 But those things which God foretold by the mouth of all His prophets, that the Christ would suffer, He has thus fulfilled. 
19 Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, 
20 and that He may send Jesus Christ, who was preached to you before,
21 whom heaven must receive until the times of restoration of all things, which God has spoken by the mouth of all His holy prophets since the world began. 
22 For Moses truly said to the fathers, ‘The Lord your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from your brethren. Him you shall hear in all things, whatever He says to you. 
23 And it shall be that every soul who will not hear that Prophet shall be utterly destroyed from among the people.’
24 Yes, and all the prophets, from Samuel and those who follow, as many as have spoken, have also foretold　these days. 
25 You are sons of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying to Abraham,‘And in your seed all the families of the earth shall be blessed.’
26 To you first, God, having raised up His Servant Jesus, sent Him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from your iniquities.”

１　彼らが人々にこのように語っているあいだに、祭司たち、神殿の司たち、サドカイ人たちが近寄ってきて、
２　彼らが人々に教を説き、死人からのよみがえりをイエスについて宣伝しているのに非常にふあんになりました。
３　そこで、彼らに手をかけて捕え、翌朝まで留置しておきました。それは、すでに日が暮れていたからです。
４　しかし、彼らの話を聞いた多くの人たちは信じましが、その男の数が五千人ほどになりました。
５　さて、明くる日、役人、長老、律法学者たち、
６　また、大祭司アンナスをはじめ、カヤパ、ヨハネ、アレキサンデル、[1]つまり大祭司の一族が、エルサレムに召集されました。
７　そして、彼らは、そのまん中に使徒たちを立たせて尋問しました、「あなたがたは、いったい、なんの権威、また、だれの名によって、このことをしたのか」。
８　その時、ペテロが聖霊に満たされて彼らに言いました、[2]「民の役人たち、および、イスラエルの長老たちよ、

１７　ただ、これ以上このことが民衆の間にひろまらないように、今後はこの名によって、いっさいだれにも語ることがないように、厳しくおどしてやろう」。
１８　そこで、彼らを呼び入れて、イエスの名によって語ることも説くことも、いっさい相成らぬと命じました。
１９　しかし、ペテロとヨハネとは、彼らに答えて言いました、「神に聞き従うよりも、あなたがたに聞き従う方が、神の前に正しいかどうか、あなたがたは、判断してください。
２０　わたしたちは、自分の見たこと聞いたことを、語らざるを得ません」。
２１　しかし、人々の手前、ふたりを罰するすべがなかったそこで、彼らはふたりを更におどしたうえ、ゆるしてやりました。みんなの者が、この出来事のために、神をあがめていたからです。
２２　そのしるしによっていやされたのは、四十歳あまりの人でした。
２３　そこで、彼らは釈放されてから、仲間の者たちのところに帰って、祭司長たちや長老たちが言ったいっさいのことを報告しました。
２４　一同はこれを聞くと、心をひとつにし、神にむかい声をあげて言いました、「主よ、あなたは天と地と海と、その中のすべてのものとの造りぬしなる神です。
２５　あなたは、[3]あなたの僕ダビデの口をとおして、聖霊によって、こう仰せになりました、『なぜ、諸国民たちは、騒ぎ立ち、もろもろの民は、むなしいことを図るのか。
２６　地上の王たちは、並びたち、支配者たちは、主に逆らい、また、そのキリストとに、互に集まって逆らう』。
２７　まことに、あなたが油を注がれた聖なる僕イエスに逆らって、ヘロデもポンテオ・ピラトも、異邦人らやイスラエルの民と一緒に、
２８　み手とみ旨とによって、あらかじめ定められていたことを、[4]なそうとして集まったのです。
２９　主よ、いま、彼らの脅迫に目をとめ、[5]あなたの僕たちに、思い切って大胆に御言葉を語らせて下さい。
３０　そしてみ手を伸ばしていやしをなし、あなたの聖なる[6]僕イエスの名によって、しるしと奇跡とを行わせて下さい」。
３１　こうして彼らが祈ると、その集まっていた場所が揺れ動き、皆は聖霊に満たされて、大胆に神の言を語り出しました。
３２　信じた者の群れは、[7]心と魂がひとつになっていたので、だれひとり、どんな持ち物であっても[8]、自分のものだと主張する者がなく、いっさいの物を共有にしていました。
３３　使徒たちは非常に力強く主イエスの復活について、あかしをしたので、大きなめぐみが、彼ら全員の上にありました。
３４　彼らの中に乏しい者は、ひとりもいませんでした。それは、地所や家屋を持っている人たちが、皆それを売り、売った物の代金をもってきて、
３５　使徒たちの足もとに置きました。そしてそれぞれの必要に応じて、だれにでも分け与えられたからです。
３６　また、クプロ生れのレビ人で、使徒たちにバルナバ（訳せば「慰めの子」）と呼ばれていたヨセフは、
３７　持っていた畑を売り、その代金をもってきて、使徒たちの足もとに置きました。

Peter and John Arrested
4 Now as they spoke to the people, the priests, the captain of the temple, and the Sadducees came upon them, 2 being greatly disturbed that they taught the people and preached in Jesus the resurrection from the dead. 3 And they laid hands on them, and put them in custody until the next day, for it was already evening. 4 However, many of those who heard the word believed; and the number of the men came to be about five thousand.
Addressing the Sanhedrin
5 And it came to pass, on the next day, that their rulers, elders, and scribes, 6 as well as Annas the high priest, Caiaphas, John, and Alexander, and as many as were of the family of the high priest, were gathered together at Jerusalem. 7 And when they had set them in the midst, they asked, “By what power or by what name have you done this?”
8 Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, “Rulers of the people and elders of Israel: 9 If we this day are judged for a good deed done to a helpless man, by what means he has been made well, 10 let it be known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, by Him this man stands here before you whole. 11 This is the ‘stone which was rejected by you builders, which has become the chief cornerstone.’ 12 Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”
The Name of Jesus Forbidden
13 Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated and untrained men, they marveled. And they realized that they had been with Jesus. 14 And seeing the man who had been healed standing with them, they could say nothing against it. 15 But when they had commanded them to go aside out of the council, they conferred among themselves, 16 saying, “What shall we do to these men? For, indeed, that a notable miracle has been done through them isevident to all who dwell in Jerusalem, and we cannot deny it. 17 But so that it spreads no further among the people, let us severely threaten them, that from now on they speak to no man in this name.”
18 So they called them and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus.19 But Peter and John answered and said to them, “Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you more than to God, you judge. 20 For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.” 21 So when they had further threatened them, they let them go, finding no way of punishing them, because of the people, since they all glorified God for what had been done. 22 For the man was over forty years old on whom this miracle of healing had been performed.
Prayer for Boldness
23 And being let go, they went to their own companions and reported all that the chief priests and elders had said to them. 24 So when they heard that, they raised their voice to God with one accord and said: “Lord, You are God, who made heaven and earth and the sea, and all that is in them,25 who by the mouth of Your servant David have said:
‘Why did the nations rage,
And the people plot vain things?
26 The kings of the earth took their stand,
And the rulers were gathered together
Against the Lord and against His Christ.’[c]
27 “For truly against Your holy Servant Jesus, whom You anointed, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles and the people of Israel, were gathered together 28 to do whatever Your hand and Your purpose determined before to be done. 29 Now, Lord, look on their threats, and grant to Your servants that with all boldness they may speak Your word, 30 by stretching out Your hand to heal, and that signs and wonders may be done through the name of Your holy Servant Jesus.”
31 And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness.
Sharing in All Things
32 Now the multitude of those who believed were of one heart and one soul; neither did anyone say that any of the things he possessed was his own, but they had all things in common. 33 And with great power the apostles gave witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And great grace was upon them all. 34 Nor was there anyone among them who lacked; for all who were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the proceeds of the things that were sold, 35 and laid them at the apostles’ feet; and they distributed to each as anyone had need.
36 And Joses, who was also named Barnabas by the apostles (which is translated Son of Encouragement), a Levite of the country of Cyprus, 37 having land, sold it, and brought the money and laid it at the apostles’ feet.

行　５
１　ところが、アナニヤという人とその妻サッピラとは共に資産を売りましたが、
２　アナニヤは妻と共謀して、その代金を一部を隠しておき、一部だけを持ってきて、使徒たちの足もとに置きました。
３　しかし、ペテロが言いました、「アナニヤよ、どうして、サタンがあなたがたの心を満たして聖霊を欺き、かつ地所の代金をごまかそうとしたのか。
４　売らずに残しておけば、あなたのものであり、売ってしまっても、あなたの自由になったはずではないか。どうして、こんなことをする気になったのか。あなたは人を欺いたのではなくて、神を欺いたのです」。
５　アナニヤはこの言葉を聞いているうちに、倒れて息が絶えました。そして、このことを聞いた人々は、みな非常なおそれを感じました。
６　それから、若者たちが立って、その死体を包み、運び出して葬りました。
７　さて、三時間ほど後になってから、この出来事を知らずに、彼の妻もはいって来ました。
８　そこで、ペテロが彼女にむかって言いました、「あの地所は、これこれの値段で売ったのですか。ちがいますか」。すると、彼女は「そうです、その値段です」と答えました。
９　すると、ペテロが彼女に言いました、「あなたがたが、心を合わせて主の御霊を試みるとは、何事ですか。見よ、あなたの夫を葬った人たちの足が、門口にきている。彼らはあなたも運び出します」。
１０　すると女は、たちまち彼の足もとに倒れて、息が絶えました。そこに若者たちがはいってきて、女が死んでしまっているのを見つけ、それを運び出してその夫のそばに葬りました。
１１　そこで、非常なおそれが教会全体ならびにこれを伝え聞いた人たちに起こりました。
１２　そのころ、多くのしるしと奇跡とが、次々に使徒たちの手により人々の中で行われました。そして、また、彼らは全員、心を一つにして、ソロモンの廊にいました。
１３　ほかの者たちは、ひとりもその交わりに入ろうとはしませんでしたが、民衆は彼らを尊敬していました。
１４　しかし、信じる者がますます多くなり、男女とも、主の交わりに加わってきました。
１５　また、人々は、病人を大通りに運び出し、寝台や寝床の上に置きました。それは、ペテロが通るとき、彼の影なりと、そのうちのだれかにかかるようにするためでした。
１６　またエルサレム附近の町々の大勢の人々も、病人や汚れた霊に苦しめられている人たちを連れて、互いに集まって来ましたが、その全部の者が、すべていやされました。
１７　しかし、大祭司とサドカイ派の人たちが、みな嫉妬の念に満たされて立ちあがり、
１８　使徒たちに手をかけて捕え、公共の留置場に入れました。
１９　ところが、主の使が夜に乗じて獄の戸を開き、彼らを連れ出して言いました、
２０　「行きなさい。そして、神殿に立ち[1]、この命の言葉をすべての人々に語りなさい[2]」。
２１　彼らはこれを聞き、夜明けごろ神殿にはいって来て教えはじめました。しかし、大祭司とその仲間の者とが、集まってきて、議会とイスラエル人の長老たちとを召集し、使徒たちを引き出してこさせるために、人を獄につかわしました。
２２　しかし、下役どもが行って見ると、獄の中に彼らがいないので、引き返して報告して、
２３　こう言いました、「獄には、厳重に錠がかけてあり、番人たちは戸口に立っているのが見えましたた。ところが、あけて見たら、中にはだれもいませんでした」。
２４　大祭司、神殿の司、そして祭司長たちは、この報告を聞いて、これは、いったい、どんな事になるのだろうと、あわて惑っていました。
２５　そこへ、ある人がきて知らせて言いました、「見なさい。あなたがたが獄に入れたあの人たちが、神殿の中に立って、民衆を教えています」。
２６　そこで神殿の司が、下役どもと一緒に出かけて行って、使徒たちを連れて来ました。しかし、人々に石で打ち殺されるのを恐れて、手荒なことはせず、
２７　彼らを連れてきて、議会の中に立たせました。すると、大祭司が問うて
２８　こう言いました、「我々は、あの名を使って教えてはならないと、きびしく命じなかったか。それだのに、見なさい。お前たちは、エルサレム中にお前たちの教を、満たしている。お前たちは、あの人の血の責任をわたしたちに負わせようと、たくらんでいるのだ」。
２９　しかし、ペテロと使徒たちは答えて言いました、「人間に従うよりは、神に必ず従うべきです。
３０　わたしたちの先祖の神は、あなたがたが木にかけて殺したイエスをよみがえらせました。
３１　神は、イスラエルに悔い改めと罪のゆるしを与えるために、このイエスを導き手とし救主として、ご自身の右に上げられたのです。
３２　わたしたちはこれらの事についての彼の証人です。また、[3]彼に従うものに、神が賜った聖霊もまた、その証人です」。
３３　しかし、彼らはこれを聞いて、激しく怒り、使徒たちを殺そうと思いました。
３４　ところが、パリサイ派の人で、国民全体に尊敬されていた律法学者ガマリエルという議会で立って、使徒たちをしばらくのあいだ外に出させ、
３５　それから彼らにむかって言いました、「イスラエルの諸君、あの人たちをどう扱うか、よく気をつけなさい。
３６　先ごろ、チゥダが起って、自分を何か偉い者のように言いふらし、彼に従った男の数が、四百人ほどもあったが、結局、彼は殺されてしまい、従った者もみな四散して、全く跡方もなくなってしまった。
３７　そののち、戸籍登録の日に、ガリラヤ人ユダが多くの人々を率いたが、この人も滅び、従った者もみな散らされてしまった。
３８　そこで、この際、諸君に申し上げる。あの人たちから手を引いて、そのなすままにしておきなさい。その企てや、しわざが、人間から出たものなら、滅びるだろう。
３９　しかし、もし神から出たものなら、あなたがたは、これを滅ぼすことはできまい。まちがえば、諸君は神を敵に逆らって戦っていることになるかも知れない」。
４０　[4]そこで彼らはその勧告にしたがい、使徒たちを呼び入れて、むち打ったのち、今後イエスの名によって語ってはならぬと命じて、許してやりました。
４１　使徒たちは、御名のために恥を受けるに価する者とされたことを喜びながら、議会から出て来ました。
４２　こうして彼らは、毎日、神殿や家で、イエスがキリストであることを、[5]教えて止みませんでした。

Lying to the Holy Spirit
5 But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession. 2 And he kept backpart of the proceeds, his wife also being aware of it, and brought a certain part and laid it at the apostles’ feet. 3 But Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and keep back part of the price of the land for yourself? 4 While it remained, was it not your own? And after it was sold, was it not in your own control? Why have you conceived this thing in your heart? You have not lied to men but to God.”
5 Then Ananias, hearing these words, fell down and breathed his last. So great fear came upon all those who heard these things. 6 And the young men arose and wrapped him up, carried him out, and buried him.
7 Now it was about three hours later when his wife came in, not knowing what had happened. 8 And Peter answered her, “Tell me whether you sold the land for so much?”
She said, “Yes, for so much.”
9 Then Peter said to her, “How is it that you have agreed together to test the Spirit of the Lord? Look, the feet of those who have buried your husband are at the door, and they will carry you out.” 10 Then immediately she fell down at his feet and breathed her last. And the young men came in and found her dead, and carrying her out, buried her by her husband. 11 So great fear came upon all the church and upon all who heard these things.
Continuing Power in the Church
12 And through the hands of the apostles many signs and wonders were done among the people. And they were all with one accord in Solomon’s Porch. 13 Yet none of the rest dared join them, but the people esteemed them highly. 14 And believers were increasingly added to the Lord, multitudes of both men and women, 15 so that they brought the sick out into the streets and laid them on beds and couches, that at least the shadow of Peter passing by might fall on some of them. 16 Also a multitude gathered from the surrounding cities to Jerusalem, bringing sick people and those who were tormented by unclean spirits, and they were all healed.
Imprisoned Apostles Freed
17 Then the high priest rose up, and all those who were with him (which is the sect of the Sadducees), and they were filled with indignation, 18 and laid their hands on the apostles and put them in the common prison. 19 But at night an angel of the Lord opened the prison doors and brought them out, and said, 20 “Go, stand in the temple and speak to the people all the words of this life.”
21 And when they heard that, they entered the temple early in the morning and taught. But the high priest and those with him came and called the council together, with all the elders of the children of Israel, and sent to the prison to have them brought.
Apostles on Trial Again
22 But when the officers came and did not find them in the prison, they returned and reported,23 saying, “Indeed we found the prison shut securely, and the guards standing outside before the doors; but when we opened them, we found no one inside!” 24 Now when the high priest, the captain of the temple, and the chief priests heard these things, they wondered what the outcome would be. 25 So one came and told them, saying, “Look, the men whom you put in prison are standing in the temple and teaching the people!”
26 Then the captain went with the officers and brought them without violence, for they feared the people, lest they should be stoned. 27 And when they had brought them, they set them before the council. And the high priest asked them, 28 saying, “Did we not strictly command you not to teach in this name? And look, you have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this Man’s blood on us!”
29 But Peter and the other apostles answered and said: “We ought to obey God rather than men.30 The God of our fathers raised up Jesus whom you murdered by hanging on a tree. 31 Him God has exalted to His right hand to be Prince and Savior, to give repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins.32 And we are His witnesses to these things, and so also is the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey Him.”
Gamaliel’s Advice
33 When they heard this, they were furious and plotted to kill them. 34 Then one in the council stood up, a Pharisee named Gamaliel, a teacher of the law held in respect by all the people, and commanded them to put the apostles outside for a little while. 35 And he said to them: “Men of Israel, take heed to yourselves what you intend to do regarding these men. 36 For some time ago Theudas rose up, claiming to be somebody. A number of men, about four hundred, joined him. He was slain, and all who obeyed him were scattered and came to nothing. 37 After this man, Judas of Galilee rose up in the days of the census, and drew away many people after him. He also perished, and all who obeyed him were dispersed. 38 And now I say to you, keep away from these men and let them alone; for if this plan or this work is of men, it will come to nothing; 39 but if it is of God, you cannot overthrow it—lest you even be found to fight against God.”
40 And they agreed with him, and when they had called for the apostles and beaten them, they commanded that they should not speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go. 41 So they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for Hisname. 42 And daily in the temple, and in every house, they did not cease teaching and preaching Jesus as the Christ.
